Warriors are therefore the volunteers, whom are readily involving themselves with the interesting reflections on the importance of humanitarian interventions, especially in the most disadvantaged parts of our society, and on how to change one's life by improving that of others. In this regard, many people apply every year to volunteer or work for a humanitarian organization.
To give some useful information to all those who are willing to undertake a path of this type we turned to six famous associations, Elderly care, Child and Youth Services, Disability Aid Medical assistance & support, School medical service, Local humanitarian aid and drug/ alcohol rehabilitation which explained to us what to work or offer volunteer services in the humanitarian field.
THE REQUIREMENTS - Anyone who are 18+years with service minded can become a volunteer with us. The essential requirements vary from position to position: the basis is always availability, flexibility and sensitivity as transversal skills and a strong motivation to work interstate and in cooperation. It is essential to complete a serious training course in order to become a volunteer: the objective of the NGOs that work in development cooperation is in fact to combine the professionalism of the volunteer candidates with full awareness and preparation for the dynamics of the cooperation context.
Then there are some key or transversal skills, which often cannot be ignored anymore: knowledge of English (in some areas); a medium-high level of schooling (possibly a degree or higher qualifications); knowledge of the main IT tools (these will be additional advantage); ability to plan and manage one's time; orientation both to the process and to the result; communication skills and teamwork; problem-solving; ability to work under pressure.
